CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION AWARDS $45,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

Christian Community Credit Union’s Focused on the Future Scholarship Program awarded $45,500 in scholarships to 46 students in 2009. Recipients were selected based on their essay, academic excellence, extra-curricular activities and references. Applicants wrote an essay on the topic “The Bible teaches that it's wise to save (Proverbs 21:20) but foolish to hoard (Luke 12:13-21). Where do you think the line is drawn between wise savings and foolish hoarding?” The Scholarship Program is offered early spring and awarded in June. Scholarships are available for undergraduate to post-graduate students who are members of Christian Community Credit Union.

Scholarship winners expressed their appreciation to the Credit Union. “Thank you so much for blessing me with money for school. Your help over the years has made a difference as I seek to become a teacher. Your partnership is a blessing and my family is very grateful,” stated Mical Bell, an undergraduate student. Jennifer Corado, a graduate student said, “This scholarship will help reduce my financial burden as I continue in pursuit of a Masters in Social Work. I commend Christian Community Credit Union for their work not only in our communities but around the world as well.” Aida Barnes, an incoming college freshman expressed, “Your generous gift has helped to make my college education possible. I appreciate it more than you know.”
