What’s shared branching and why is it important? Shared branching is a network of credit unions that support each other by allowing the members of each credit union to do their banking at any network location. All you need is your credit union’s name, your account number, and a photo ID! Just look for the CO-OP Shared Branch logo.
Shared branching is always growing! According to FDIC data, CO-OP Shared Branching is the second largest financial institution network in the United States, even surpassing Chase’s numbers.
Here are some reasons we think shared branching is great:
1. Shared branching is convenient. With all you have to do, adding more minutes of drive time isn’t an option. Shared branching eliminates your need to drive to your credit union’s locations by allowing you access to over 5,600 shared branches all over the United States. So even if you’re on the road or you’re moving to a new place, you’ll never be far from your money.
2. Shared branching is personal. You may not want to do all your banking on your phone or at an ATM. With shared branching, you can talk to tellers at your nearest shared branch and get the real, in-person service that credit unions do best. You can even make loan payments and transfer funds from one account to another!
3. Shared branching works with ATMs too! With shared branching, you’ll never have to worry about ATM fees again. CO-OP shared branching gives you access to 30,000 FREE ATMs all over the country. You can even use any ATM at 7-Eleven®, Costco®, and Walgreens stores that have either the CO-OP ATM or Vcom® logo.
And here’s one extra reason to love shared branching:
4. Finding shared branches is easier than ever! Our members can always find their nearest location at our website or via these CO-OP apps*:
*There is no charge for downloading these apps. However, web charges may occur on your cell phone bill depending on your data plan. Please check with your service provider.)
